At 13:05 hours the box alarm was transmitted for a residential fire in the 700 block of Prince Edward Street in the City of Fredericksburg. The Engine Company responded on the run with a total of five volunteers. Fredericksburg Engine 1 was first to arrive to find a three story wood frame apartment building with fire showing on side Alpha. While Fredericksburg units secured a water supply and advanced two attack lines to the front door the Engine Company laid in for a secondary water supply and stretched a hand line into the structure to assist with extinguishing the fire. Engine 1 remained on scene for approximately two hours before returning to service.
