Minutes after the Engine Company cleared from an AFA they were then alerted for a local alarm at the Bloom on Deacon Road for a possible explosive device at the entrance of the store. Engine 1 arrived and assisted the Stafford Sheriff's Office to evacuate the immediate area while other law enforcement officers shut down Deacon Road in both directions. After the area was secure the Engine Company staged at a water supply and awaited the arrival of the bomb squad. While awaiting for the bomb squad the Sheriff's Office had their explosives dog investigate the perimeter of the device. A USMC Explosives Ordnance Disposal Team from Quantico arrived and used a robot to read the information on the box. The investigation showed that the box possibly contained a 40mm grenade. After E.O.D. completed an x-ray of the container they then donned their protective equipment and opened the container to find no explosive device, just a tool box. Engine 1 returned to service in approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes.
